How to check if a website is down
Website Status Checker tells you whether a site is reachable from the internet right now. It sends a request from our server to the address you enter and reports whether the server answered.
It answers the classic question: is the site down for everyone, or only for me?
How to use it
- Enter the full address, for example https://example.com.
- Start the check and wait a few seconds.
- Read the result: online means the server answered, offline means it did not respond or returned an error.
Example
If your browser cannot open a shop's website but this tool reports it as online, the problem is probably on your side: your connection, DNS cache, VPN or a browser extension.
Good to know
- If a site is up here but not for you, try another network (for example mobile data) or clear your DNS cache.
- A site can be online and still broken. A 500 error means the server is running but the application failed; the HTTP Status Code Checker shows the exact code.
- Include https:// if the site uses it, because some servers only answer on one protocol.
Frequently asked questions
Why does the tool say a site is down when it works for me?
Some sites block requests from data centers or certain countries, and some firewalls reject automated checks. In that case the site is only unreachable from our server, not for everyone.
Does the check affect the website?
No. It sends a single normal request, the same as one visitor opening the page.
