JSON Validator

Check whether your JSON is valid and find syntax errors.

JSON Validator

JSON Validator is the free online validator tool for JSON.

How to validate JSON and fix errors

JSON Validator checks whether your text is valid JSON and shows where parsing fails. It saves time when an API rejects your request or an app refuses to load a config file.

How to use it

  1. Paste the JSON.
  2. Run the validation.
  3. If there is an error, go to the reported position, fix it and validate again.

Example

The input {"name": "Ana", "age": 30,} is invalid because of the comma after 30. Removing it makes the JSON valid.

Good to know

  • Keys must be in double quotes: {"id": 1} is valid, {id: 1} is not.
  • Comments such as // or /* */ are not allowed in standard JSON.
  • undefined, NaN and functions are not valid JSON values. Use null instead.

Frequently asked questions

My JSON is valid but the API still rejects it. Why?

Valid only means the syntax is correct. The API may expect different field names, types or required fields, so check its documentation.

Is JSON the same as a JavaScript object?

They look alike, but JSON is stricter: double quotes only, no trailing commas, no comments and no functions.
